Uzbek leader Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced that the Bukhara region has attracted approximately $4 bn in investments over the past seven years, the presidential press service reports. The president made this statement while familiarizing with investment projects in the region.
In 2024, the region is implementing 607 projects worth $1.3 bn. Additionally, 80 initiatives were formed with the participation of foreign and Uzbek investors, totalling $14 bn.
Plans are underway to launch the construction of a 600-MW wind farm in Gijduvan district, with efforts to attract a Chinese investor to the project. Other planned investment projects include the development of a graphite deposit and the commencement of battery production for electric scooters in the Peshkun district.
Meanwhile, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company Masdar signed a $46.5 mn loan agreement to construct the Nur-Bukhara solar power plant and a battery energy storage facility in Bukhara region. This project marks Central Asia's first renewable energy facility with a utility-scale battery energy storage system.
