Uzbekistan's Justice Ministry delegation's trip to South Korea is making strides in cooperation, with Deputy Ministers Meliyev and Chang-beom holding a meeting in Sejong, the National Information Agency of Uzbekistan reported.
Representatives from South Korea's Ministry of Government Legislation presented comprehensive insights into two key projects: Official Development Assistance (ODA) and the Council of Asian Legislative Institutions (CALI). The ODA initiative encompasses the digitization, dissemination, and standardization of legal information, alongside the establishment of legal information portals and training endeavors across 17 Asian and Middle Eastern nations.
Simultaneously, the CALI project, slated for a 2025 launch, aims to foster collaborative research on prospective legislative challenges, enhance legislative process management, digitize legal information, and modernize legislative documents.
Uzbekistan was cordially invited to participate in these endeavors, recognizing its strategic importance as a central player in Central Asia. Both parties pledged to forge cooperation mechanisms to facilitate the implementation of the ODA and CALI projects.
In the aftermath of the meeting, a comprehensive cooperation program was endorsed, delineating actionable steps outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding initially signed by the two entities in 2009.
Under this program, tangible collaboration has been earmarked for 2024-2025, focusing on legislative planning systems, legislative analysis, legal education, and a spectrum of pertinent issues.
