President Shavkat Mirziyoyev chaired a meeting addressing the critical issues of neighborhood employment and the systematic management of labor migration, underscoring the priority placed on enhancing employment and income levels within Uzbekistan, presidential press service reported on May 10.
Uzbekistan is actively implementing a plethora of economic and social programs, alongside the launch of new projects, aimed at fostering entrepreneurship and self-employment opportunities. The nation is replicating the successful employment model of Saykhunabad across all regions, with officials providing updates on the progress of these initiatives at the district and neighborhood levels.
To facilitate this process, economic complex officials have been assigned to each neighborhood, where they collaborate with economically disadvantaged families to augment their income. This entails the provision of affordable loans, subsidies, and benefits, coupled with expert guidance from the agro-industry sector to cultivate lucrative crops within households.
President Mirziyoyev underscored the need for uniformity in organizing employment initiatives, emphasizing the imperative of fully mobilizing internal resources to address the complexities of the contemporary economic landscape.
Furthermore, the meeting highlighted the strategic importance of effectively managing labor migration, both in facilitating the safe employment of citizens abroad and ensuring their seamless reintegration upon return to the country. To this end, reforms within the Foreign Labor Migration Agency under the Ministry of Employment are underway, with a focus on implementing the "Work abroad - from the neighborhood" principle nationwide.
As part of these efforts, citizens lacking sufficient qualifications are being provided with additional vocational training and targeted education tailored to meet the demands of foreign employers. Plans are in place to dispatch 150,000 individuals to high-income countries in the near future, leveraging their skills and expertise to bolster economic prosperity.
Furthermore, returning citizens are receiving specialized support, drawing from the successful experiences of Saykhunabad, to embark on agricultural ventures and entrepreneurial endeavors.
President Mirziyoyev issued directives to ensure the provision of high-quality services to citizens and uphold employment opportunities, emphasizing the necessity of establishing a centralized information platform on migration integrated with the "seven neighborhoods" system to aid compatriots facing challenges abroad.
