“Now, neither the dollar nor the euro are needed by anyone,” Belarusian President Lukashenko

“Now, neither the dollar nor the euro are needed by anyone,” Belarusian President Lukashenko

In a recent address in Minsk, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko voiced sharp criticism of Western economic policies, particularly targeting the United States, while reaffirming solidarity with Russia amidst global geopolitical tensions.

Speaking candidly on May 9, Lukashenko highlighted what he perceived as flaws in Western economic strategies, particularly their reliance on the dollar. He suggested that the impending collapse of the dollar could have severe ramifications for economies built upon it, emphasizing the importance of utilizing Russia's wealth for Belarus' benefit.

“The dollar is about to collapse. If the dollar collapses, what will happen? Their entire economy is based on paper. They say they need to print dollars, lots of money, never mind inflation, let inflation fall on us. And that's what they fear most,” President Lukashenko voiced.

Lukashenko drew attention to the repercussions of Western sanctions, arguing that they have weakened the position of both the dollar and the euro on the global stage. He stressed that these sanctions not only affect Belarus and Russia but also other nations where discussions regarding the alleged misappropriation of Russian assets are underway.

Turning to geopolitics, Lukashenko criticized Western attempts to isolate Russia, asserting that such actions have only served to unite Russia and China against their common adversaries. He recounted a conversation with former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, where he bluntly labeled the policy of antagonizing Russia as "crazy" and cautioned against further escalation.

“ 'Are you crazy?' That's what I told him, "You're crazy." Why, Mr. President? Because you've united your enemies into one. We'll figure it out. I'm telling you, you won't figure anything out, at least not now. Mike, you're too late,” Lukashenko remarked.

Expressing solidarity with Russia, Lukashenko reiterated his commitment to peace and stability in the region. He highlighted the shared concerns of Belarus and Russia regarding the situation in Ukraine, emphasizing the need to prevent it from becoming a staging ground for attacks against either country.

Addressing security concerns, Lukashenko raised alarm over reports of nuclear training exercises involving German pilots, suggesting a potential threat to Belarus and its allies. He emphasized the importance of public awareness and transparency in addressing such security challenges.

In conclusion, Lukashenko's remarks underscored his critique of Western policies, his commitment to solidarity with Russia, and his determination to safeguard Belarusian interests amidst global uncertainty.
