Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko announced his intention to participate in the 2025 presidential election. Responding to queries from journalists at a polling station, Lukashenko stated, “I will participate, I will participate, I will participate.” He further urged the foreign opposition to note his determination, stating that his resolve only strengthens as the situation becomes more challenging, TASS reported.
The president noted that the “electoral cycle” has already commenced and predicted that Belarus will experience unrest until the presidential election.
With a year remaining until the presidential election, Lukashenko acknowledged that many things could change. “Naturally, I and all of us, the society, will react to the changes that will occur in our society and the circumstances we will face when voting in a year,” Lukashenko added.
The president emphasized that stepping down from office at this juncture would be equivalent to betrayal. This statement underscores his commitment to his role and the people of Belarus.
