Iran has unilaterally facilitated visa requirements for Turkmen nationals and expects Turkmenistan to reciprocate Iran’s measure.
President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Samad Hassanzadeh, made the remarks during a meeting with his Turkmen counterpart Mergen Gurdov in Tehran.
The Iranian official noted that the enhancement of trade between Iran and Turkmenistan relies on establishment of a preferential trade system between the two countries. Noting that Iran-Turkmenistan trade volume stands at $450mn, he said that bilateral exchanges between the two neighboring countries is far behind the potentials.
The Iranian side says there is significant potential for cooperation in health tourism, and offers its services in high technology, mining and agriculture.
Earlier, it was reported that preparations were underway for the visit of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi to Turkmenistan.
The two neighbouring countries have jointly implemented a number of major infrastructure projects. These include the Dostluk (Druzhba) dam and the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran transnational railway, as well as cross-border gas pipelines and power lines.
