Aksa Akrilik Kimya Sanayii A.Ş., a prominent acrylic filament manufacturer in Turkey, recently announced the adoption of a four-day work week for all administrative employees. This decision follows a year-long trial involving 200 workers and aims to assess its impact on labor efficiency and work-life balance, Fortune reported.
The transition to the shortened work week was met with strong support from employees, with participation rates reaching 94%. There were no changes to salaries or other conditions for employees working on the reduced schedule, ensuring equitable treatment.
A corporate survey revealed positive outcomes, including increased work engagement, productivity, and motivation among employees. Over 85% of respondents reported an improvement in work-life balance as a result of the new schedule. Additionally, the company observed a rise in job applications, indicating its attractiveness as an employer.
Initially, fixed days off were set for Tuesdays and Thursdays, but the company later adopted flexible holiday schedules to accommodate production needs. Aksa Akrilik also offered alternative options, such as shorter workdays spread across five days or breaks during workdays, to suit individual preferences.
As Aksa Akrilik leads the way in implementing a four-day work week, it sets an example for other companies seeking to prioritize employee well-being and enhance productivity. By focusing on empirical data and adaptability, Aksa Akrilik demonstrates a commitment to fostering a sustainable and efficient work environment.
