The Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, will visit Turkmenistan as part of his regional tour that will end on 13 April, according to his press service.
He's scheduled high-level meetings with the heads of the legislative and executive branches.
The Georgian delegation includes:
- Daviti Matikashvili, Head of the Friendship Group with the Parliament of Turkmenistan, First Deputy Chairman of the Legal Committee;
- Baya Kvitsyan, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Education, Science and Youth of the Parliament of Georgia;
- Anton Obolashvili, Member of the Parliament of Georgia, Member of the Committee on Finance and Budget;
- Sozar Subari, member of the Committee on Agricultural Issues.
The experts told Daryo that Georgia is almost entirely dependent on imports of oil products, and Turkmenistan has been one of its main suppliers in recent years. The two countries are also discussing the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline project to Europe via the Caucasus and Turkey.
The Caucasian country is also interested in the implementation of the Caspian-Black Sea transit route project initiated by Turkmenistan and Romania. Experts are currently studying in detail the issues of freight rates, customs duties and trade privileges.
