President Shavkat Mirziyoev visited the agro-logistics complex of "BMB Holding" in the Sharof Rashidov district of the Jizzakh region on April 8, highlighting Uzbekistan's focus on enhancing agricultural exports and economic development through modern infrastructure, presidential press service reported.
The agro-logistics center, operated by "BMB Holding," commenced operations in December last year with an investment exceeding $57 mn. It has the capacity to store 10,000 tons of agricultural products and process 8,000 tons annually, providing employment for 180 individuals.
During the visit, President Mirziyoev observed the operational processes and inspected the products prepared for export. The agro-cluster under "BMB Holding" collaborates with over 1,200 contracted farmers and collected more than 52,000 tons of crops last year.
Expanding on the Saykhonabad model, the company plans to sign agreements with an additional 2,485 residents' estates, while around 4,000 farms covering 14,500 hectares cultivate agricultural products, creating over 32,000 seasonal jobs.
The complex features essential infrastructure including a phytosanitary and sanitary-epidemiological certification laboratory, customs and bank branches, and accommodation facilities. The laboratory, equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, issues phytosanitary certificates recognized by 119 countries.
The complex has significantly expanded export potential, with products valued at approximately $43 mn exported to countries including Kazakhstan, Pakistan, the Russian Federation, and China. Plans are underway to increase export volumes to $58 mn by the end of the year.
President Mirziyoev emphasized the importance of replicating such agro-logistics centers across other regions, providing entrepreneurs with access to quality products and ensuring guaranteed purchase opportunities for the population.
"BMB Holding" is a diversified conglomerate with four joint ventures and 26 subsidiaries. Notably, the BMB Opera Zafferano joint venture oversees a 400-hectare saffron plantation, exporting saffron products to multiple countries.
In the next three years, the value of this project will increase to €80 mn, and the volume of saffron cultivation will increase from 1.8 tons to 20 tons. The head of state approved these plans and gave instructions to increase saffron fields and export.
