Religious leaders across Tajikistan have issued appeals to Tajik migrants abroad, emphasizing caution and patriotism amidst growing concerns over their safety and security. The calls come in the wake of a terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall in Krasnogorsk and the subsequent identification of several Tajik citizens as suspects, allegedly linked to the extremist group "Islamic State," as it was informed by ASIA-Plus on March 30.
During Friday prayers at the Central Mosque in Dushanbe, Mufti Saidmukarram Abdulkodirzoda addressed the migrant community, urging them to "be careful abroad and not get involved in any intrigues and not expose yourself to troubles." He emphasized the importance of maintaining a patriotic spirit and representing Tajikistan positively on the international stage. The mufti's message resonated with concerns about the well-being of Tajik migrants and the potential risks they may face while living and working abroad.
Similarly, the imam of the Abdullo Nuri mosque in Dushanbe, known as the Imam al-Bukhari mosque, echoed sentiments of patriotism and caution in his sermon. He emphasized the importance of love for the homeland, rooted in faith, and condemned any form of violence, particularly those committed in the name of religion. The imam's message stressed the significance of fulfilling familial responsibilities and contributing positively to society as a form of "jihad."
Both religious leaders refrained from specifying any particular incidents but underscored the need for vigilance and prudence among Tajik migrants, especially in light of recent events. The prayers offered for the well-being and protection of migrants serve as a poignant reminder of the challenges faced by individuals living away from their homeland and the importance of community support and solidarity during such times.
