The Information Technology (IT) sector in Kazakhstan experienced an expansion in 2023, with the total value of IT services in computer programming, consulting, and related domains reaching KZT 1.1 trillion ($2.4bn), Finprom.kz reports. This figure represents a notable surge of 41.1% compared to the previous year.
The report highlights the significant growth trajectory of the IT sector, indicating a robust expansion of 54.8% in the corresponding period of the previous year, amounting to KZT 777.2bn ($1.7bn).
Dominant Categories
Software Development: Among the various categories, software development emerged as the dominant sector, constituting the largest share of services valued at KZT 599bn ($1.3 billion). This category witnessed a substantial increase of 60.3% compared to the previous year.
Consulting and Practical IT Services: Following closely, consulting and practical IT services experienced remarkable growth, expanding by 2.5 times to KZT 79.2bn ($175.5mn).
Software Support Services: Additionally, software support services demonstrated significant growth, rising by 86.7% to KZT 72bn ($159.6mn).
The surge in the IT sector signifies its increasing importance and contribution to the Kazakh economy. With software development leading the way, the sector's expansion reflects the growing demand for digital solutions and expertise in various industries.
