In a series of bilateral meetings held on March 14, within the framework of the Seventh Meeting of the Ministers of Health of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Member States in Astana, strides were made towards enhancing healthcare collaboration among member nations, the Ministry of Healthcare of Kazakhstan reported.
The discussions, attended by heads of delegations, witnessed the formulation of key agreements aimed at fortifying healthcare systems and fostering mutual support in addressing pressing public health challenges.
One of the pivotal dialogues occurred during a meeting with Dr. Hans Henri Kluge, the WHO Regional Director for Europe. An agreement was reached to extend technical and advisory support to the World Health Organization (WHO) in several critical areas. These include the enhancement of medical personnel training, the introduction of innovative primary healthcare standards, meticulous drug labeling protocols, and a comprehensive study to assess the impact of environmental factors on public health in the Aral Basin region.
Furthering the collaborative ethos of the gathering, an accord was struck during discussions with Asilbek Khudayarov, the Minister of Health of Uzbekistan. Both parties pledged to intensify partnership cooperation in healthcare. Plans include the establishment of a collaborative working group comprising medical educational and scientific organizations, the standardization of medical personnel training protocols, joint scientific endeavors, and the exchange of expertise in modern medical technologies, maternal and child health, early screening methodologies, and import substitution strategies.
Another noteworthy outcome emerged from negotiations with Andrei Plutnitsky, the Vice Minister of Health of the Russian Federation. Both parties agreed to sign a pivotal Agreement on cooperation in healthcare during upcoming international events. Additionally, plans are underway to inaugurate a branch of Kazan University at the esteemed Karaganda Medical University premises. The envisioned collaborations encompass various domains such as oncology, geriatric services, medical science, education, and digitalization.
Deliberations with Roli Singh, the Vice Minister of Health and Family Welfare of India, centered on cooperation in the production of medicines and medical devices, technology exchange, and medical education.
Expressing mutual interest in strengthening collaborative endeavors, the heads of delegations from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan underscored the significance of augmenting partnerships with the Kazakhstani counterpart. Focus areas include bolstering educational ties, augmenting human resources, and fostering reciprocal exchange of experiences and technologies.
