Throughout 2023, Uzbekistan’s communication regime showcased its stability and provided favourable conditions for the growth of economic, cultural, and youth communications. This was not only beneficial for Russia but also for other nations, including those that have strained relations with Russia.
The political communications were diverse yet maintained a focus on the economic partnership with Russia. However, the civil sector emerged as the most susceptible area of Uzbekistan’s communication regime, facing pressure from Western NGOs.
There is a high likelihood that 2024 will witness alterations in the working conditions of NCOs and a transformation in the media landscape. Over time, these changes could potentially influence the transformation of the entire communication regime.
In terms of fostering friendly relations with Russia among Central Asian countries, Uzbekistan managed to surpass Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. However, it fell behind Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
