The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoev, met with Sebastien Clair, CEO of Voltalia, during his visit to the Khorezm region on February 29, press service of the president reported.
The multifaceted relations between Uzbekistan and France have been steadily evolving, with both countries demonstrating a commitment to fostering robust economic ties. This commitment was underscored during President Mirziyoev's official visit to France in November 2022, where pivotal agreements were reached, particularly in priority sectors such as renewable energy.
A highlight of the discussions was the commencement of work on a 100-megawatt solar power plant in the Tuproqkala district, a collaborative effort between Uzbekistan and Voltalia. Moreover, the potential expansion of this project to incorporate agrovoltaic solutions was met with enthusiasm, showcasing a commitment to innovative, sustainable practices.
President Mirziyoev expressed staunch support for broadening cooperation with Voltalia, advocating for the establishment of battery production facilities in the Khorezm region. Additionally, plans were unveiled for the construction of a hybrid power plant in the Bukhara region, further solidifying Uzbekistan's commitment to diversifying its energy portfolio.
Earlier Daryo reported that Voltalia, a French renewable energy firm, has forged a public-private partnership (PPP) deal with the government of Uzbekistan to build a 100 MW solar power facility in the Khorezm region. This endeavor, slated to demand an investment of approximately $68 million, will be located across an expansive 182.99-hectare expanse in the Tuprokkala district of Khorezm.
Voltalia is a global player in the renewable energy sector, involved in the production and sale of electricity generated from various sources including wind, solar, hydro, biomass, and storage facilities which it both owns and operates. With a substantial generating capacity already operational or under construction, totaling more than 2.4 GW, and a robust portfolio of projects in development amounting to 13.6 GW, Voltalia demonstrates a significant presence in the industry. Beyond its role as an energy producer, Voltalia offers comprehensive services to investors engaged in renewable energy projects, guiding them through every stage from conception to operation and maintenance. Pioneering initiatives in the corporate market, Voltalia extends a holistic package to private companies, encompassing the provision of green electricity, energy efficiency services, and facilitating local electricity production.
