Voltalia has finalized agreements with the Uzbekistani government to embark on two major green energy projects, as reported by Energy Storage News.
The formal signing of these pivotal agreements occurred during the Uzbek-French business forum, marking a significant milestone in the collaboration between Voltalia and Uzbekistan. The projects, set to redefine the nation's energy landscape, will both feature cutting-edge energy storage systems.

Project 1: Shurkul Hybrid Power Plant
The first venture involves the implementation of a hybrid power plant in Shurkul near Navoi, boasting an impressive total capacity of 400 MW. The initial groundwork for this ambitious project was laid in November of the preceding year, following Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's visit to France.
This groundbreaking power plant will seamlessly integrate a wind farm and a solar photo panel farm, each with a formidable capacity of 200 MW. Notably, the complex will also house a state-of-the-art 60 MW battery system, with a total capacity of 240 MWh.
Set to be commissioned in 2026, Voltalia has proudly labeled this venture as the first facility of its kind in Central Asia.
Project 2: Sarymay Power Plant in Khorezm Region
The second endeavor, located in Sarymay within the Khorezm region, stems from Voltalia winning a competitive tender in 2022 by offering an economically compelling rate of 2.888 cents per kWh.
Initially conceptualized as a 100 MW solar power plant, the project has since evolved. It now encompasses a 123 MW solar power plant, a 100 MW wind farm, and a cutting-edge battery system. The additional protocols for these expansions were recently signed by Voltalia.
Earlier this year, Voltalia inaugurated a new office in Tashkent, Uzbekistan's capital. The opening ceremony witnessed the presence of the French Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Aurelia Bouchez, underlining the significance of the collaboration between Voltalia and the Central Asian nation.
