Representatives from Uzbekistan's Embassy in Egypt recently engaged in discussions with the management of "HyperOne," Egypt's foremost hypermarket chain to explore avenues for importing Uzbek goods into Egyptian markets, Dunyo reports. The meeting was attended by Muhammad al-Hawari, the head of HyperOne, and Yasser al-Dallal, the general purchasing manager.
Importing Uzbek Goods:
During the dialogue, the focus centered on the potential for supplying Uzbek products to HyperOne's shelves. The Egyptian counterparts expressed keen interest in importing a range of goods from Uzbekistan, particularly clothing, dried fruits, and various food items including almonds, walnuts, rice, mung beans, sausages, and canned soups.
Promotion Strategies:
To facilitate this collaboration, discussions revolved around organizing a dedicated "Week of Uzbekistan" within HyperOne's premises and implementing targeted advertising campaigns to attract Egyptian consumers. Similar promotional tactics have proven successful in other countries, such as Pakistan, significantly boosting interest in their products.
Interest in Uzbek Bread:
Of particular note during the meeting was HyperOne's expressed interest in baking and distributing Uzbek bread directly within their facilities. This demonstrates the potential for expanding the assortment of Uzbek goods available in the Egyptian market and catering to local preferences.
HyperOne stands as Egypt's largest hypermarket chain, catering to a vast customer base. In 2023 alone, the hypermarket served a staggering 72mn customers, underscoring its pivotal role in the Egyptian retail landscape.
Earlier, it was reported that AGT Poortman, a renowned British importer of grain legumes, is set to import 10,000 tons of mung bean from Uzbekistan.
