Turkmenistan's Deputy Foreign Minister Myahri Byashimova met with the Regional Director of the International Labour Organization (ILO), Beata Andres, in Ashgabat.
The parties discussed the results of joint activities carried out under the Roadmap, the country's Foreign Ministry said in a press release. "Andreas welcomed the commitment of the Turkmen side in the systematic implementation of the obligations undertaken within the ILO."
Experts told Daryo that Turkmenistan ratified the Employment Policy Convention in 2021, which obliges states to promote full, productive and freely chosen employment.
In this regard, the ILO has prepared a "review of legislation on the prevention and prohibition of forced labour".
According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), cotton is an important part of the local economy and a source of livelihood for thousands of farmers and workers.
