18-year-old Akhmad Kadyrov, the son of Chechen Republic Head Ramzan Kadyrov, has been appointed as the minister of youth work. This announcement was made by Chairman of the Chechen Parliament, Magomed Daudov, through his Telegram channel.
The appointment came to light during the inauguration ceremony of the "Technosport of Leaders" sports festival, where Akhmad was not only appointed to the new ministerial role but was also honored with the highest accolade of the Republic of Chechnya – the Order of Kadyrov.
The Kadyrov family's influence within Chechnya's political landscape extends further, with Khadija, Ramzan Kadyrov's second daughter, holding the position of first deputy head of the administration of the head of Chechnya, while Aysha, the eldest daughter, previously served as the minister of culture and is now the deputy head of the Chechen government.
The Kadyrov family's prominence and influence in Chechen politics have been evident for years, with a notable presence of relatives occupying high-ranking positions within the republic's administration. According to estimates by the BBC Russian Service in 2018, approximately 30% of the 158 high-ranking officials in Chechnya are relatives of the head of the republic, while 23% hail from the same village and another 12% are friends and relatives of Ramzan Kadyrov.
In response to criticisms regarding nepotism and familial appointments, Kadyrov has defended his decisions by emphasizing the need for trust in those appointed to positions of power.
