In 2023, foreign IT companies made a substantial contribution to the tax revenue of Uzbekistan, amounting to nearly UZS 70bn ($5.7mn), the Tax Committee reported. The lion’s share of the revenue, over 90%, was contributed by the top ten players in the industry. Meta, Google, and Apple led the pack, contributing UZS 26.4bn ($2.1mn), UZS 20.3bn ($1.6mn), and UZS 12.9bn ($1mn), respectively.
Following closely were Amazon and Booking.com, contributing UZS 2.2bn ($178,368) and UZS 1.6bn ($129,722), respectively. The remaining five companies in the top ten were Netflix, Xsolla, Zoom, Yandex, and Adobe, contributing UZS 1.2bn ($97,292), UZS 816mn ($66,158), UZS 763mn ($61,861), UZS 690mn ($55,942), and UZS 437mn ($35,430), respectively.
Compared to 2022, the tax revenue 2023 saw an increase of UZS 17.4 trillion ($1.4bn). The total tax revenue for the state budget of Uzbekistan in 2023 was UZS 165.9 trillion ($13.1bn).
The Tax Committee noted a 13% increase in tax revenues across the regions compared to 2022. The regions that recorded the highest growth rates were Jizzakh (30%), Syrdarya (21%), Tashkent (19%), and Navoiy (18%).
