Uzbekgidroenergo, under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan, has unveiled plans for the construction of five new hydroelectric power stations to address the surging demand for electricity in the region. As per to the press service of the Ministry of Energy on February 9, the initiative aims to bolster Uzbekistan's energy infrastructure and meet the growing needs of the population and industries.
The tender, announced by Uzbekgidroenergo, will seek proposals for the implementation of projects to construct the following hydroelectric power stations:
- Construction of the Dukentsoi HPP in the Tashkent region
- Construction of Kamchik 2-3 HPP in Namangan region
- Construction of the Kyzyldarya-Suvlisoy HPP in the Kashkadarya region
- Construction of the Nizhne-Koksuv HPP in the Tashkent region
Investors interested in participating in the tender are required to submit a qualification request document along with any additional information or clarifications regarding their proposals by February 29. Submissions should be sent to designated email addresses provided by Uzbekgidroenergo.
Furthermore, applications for participation in the submission of qualifications (SOQ) must be submitted by 12:00 on April 1 to the specified email address.
Notably, this tender follows a previous announcement made by Uzbekgidroenergo in August 2023, regarding the construction of the same five hydroelectric power plants. The total estimated cost for these projects amounts to $106.9 mn.
Earlier Daryo reported that during a press briefing on February 1st, Tajikistan's Energy Minister, Daler Juma, disclosed that around $1 bn is annually allocated to fund the construction of the Rogun hydroelectric power station. This project, recognized as a significant infrastructure endeavor, is projected to necessitate a total investment of $6.2 bn for its completion, as indicated by assessments conducted by international consultants.
