Uzbekistan and Belarus presidents visit Amirsoy mountain resort
The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, welcomed the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, who was on an official visit to Uzbekistan. As part of this diplomatic engagement, the leaders took the opportunity to visit the "Amirsoy" mountain resort on February 9, Uzbekistan's presidential press service reported.
The visit to "Amirsoy" took place following discussions held in Tashkent, where both heads of state reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties, particularly in the realms of sports and tourism. This commitment was formalized through the signing of a program for cooperation in sports and a plan of measures for tourism cooperation for the years 2024-2025.
In recent years, Uzbekistan has embarked on ambitious projects aimed at enhancing its sports and tourism infrastructure. "Amirsoy," situated in the Bostonliq district of the Tashkent region, stands out as a prominent example. Over the past three years, the resort has attracted approximately 4 mn tourists, underscoring its appeal as a world-class, all-season destination.
During their visit to "Amirsoy," Presidents Mirziyoyev and Lukashenko had the opportunity to inspect the facilities available for athletes and tourists alike. They exchanged views on further expanding tourism exchanges between their respective countries, with a focus on leveraging the potential of destinations like "Amirsoy" to facilitate cultural exchange and economic cooperation.
The friendly interaction continued as the leaders ventured onto the ski tracks, where they enjoyed skiing together.
