Government officials, representatives of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and stakeholders gathered in Astana to deliberate on crucial issues related to improving the legal landscape for entrepreneurship and investment activities in Central Asian countries, the Ministry of National Economy of Kazakhstan reported.
The event, attended by Vice Minister of National Economy Abzal Abdikarimov, aimed to foster collaboration among nations and strengthen partnerships with the OECD. Representatives from government agencies and the quasi-public sector were also present.
During his address, Abzal Abdikarimov expressed gratitude to the OECD for its ongoing support of economic reforms. He highlighted the successful operation of the National Contact Center (NCC) in Kazakhstan, facilitated by the OECD, which actively introduces and disseminates standards for responsible business conduct.
"The NCC not only considers violations of these standards but also promotes the development of policies for responsible business conduct. Cooperation under the Eurasian Competitiveness Program is pivotal for consolidating efforts among Eurasian countries and fortifying partnerships with the OECD. We consistently advocate for the practical knowledge dissemination of the Organization in the Eurasian region," noted Vice Minister Abdikarimov.
He underscored Kazakhstan's commitment to the OECD's policies aimed at fostering high standards of socio-economic development among its member states and partner countries.
The collaboration between Kazakhstan and the OECD gained momentum during a recent business breakfast, attended by the Ministry of Trade and Integration leadership and ambassadors of OECD countries. At the event, OECD experts presented insightful reviews on critical topics, including "Trade Facilitation in Central Asia" and "Realizing the Potential of the Middle Corridor."
The OECD's commitment to developing trade relations in Central Asia, particularly with Kazakhstan, has yielded positive results. The organization acknowledged the region's achievements in automating customs operations, a crucial aspect of efficient trade facilitation.
