Kazakhstan is gearing up to substantially enhance its export of non-commodity goods, targeting $233.5mn across 40 different product categories, the Ministry of Trade and Integration reported.
This announcement came to light during a meeting between Arman Shakkaliyev, the Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan, and Mohammed Saeed Mohammed Al Ariqi, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Kazakhstan.
The discussion between the two officials also touched upon the upcoming 13th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO), scheduled to take place from February 26 to 29, 2024, in Abu Dhabi. The meeting served as a platform for both countries to explore opportunities for collaboration and strengthen their economic ties.
Arman Shakkaliyev, the Minister of Trade and Integration, revealed that during his visit to the UAE, a Trade and Economic Mission (TEM) is set to take place at the National Pavilion of Kazakhstan within the EXPO Dubai 2020 site. The TEM will involve the participation of 30 Kazakh companies specializing in the production of goods and services.
As part of the Trade and Economic Mission, an exclusive permanent exhibition and demonstration space dedicated to showcasing Kazakhstani goods will be established. Additionally, a co-working space for IT and oil service companies will be inaugurated, fostering collaboration and innovation between businesses from both nations.
Kazakhstan and UAE
Diplomatic ties between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were formally established on October 1, 1992. Kazakhstan inaugurated its embassy in the UAE in September 2006, while the UAE's embassy in Astana City began its operations in October 2005. Furthermore, the Consulate General of Kazakhstan in Dubai has been operational since 1997.
Since the inception of diplomatic relations, there has been a consistent development of trust and mutually beneficial bilateral relations between the two nations. The UAE actively supports Kazakhstan's major foreign policy initiatives, and the alignment of positions on various international and regional issues is evident.
Economic and trade collaboration stands as a cornerstone in strengthening Kazakhstan-UAE relations. The two countries share common ground on most international and regional matters, contributing to a harmonious diplomatic understanding. Additionally, cultural and humanitarian ties between Kazakhstan and the UAE are steadily progressing, with a clear inclination toward expansion.
