Wheat exports from Kazakhstan to Turkmenistan increased to 528.1 thousand tonnes in January-November 2023, up from 299.3 thousand tonnes a year earlier.
Kazakhstan's State Statistics Committee reports that these supplies were valued at $173.2mn in the reporting period, up from $109.2mn a year earlier.
In total, Kazakhstan exported 6.7mn tonnes of wheat worth $1.7bn in January-November 2023, most of which went to CIS countries: 4.8mn tonnes worth $1.2bn. Uzbekistan and Tajikistan were the main recipients.
Turkmenistan's Ministry of Agriculture previously reported that the country plans to harvest 1.4mn tonnes of wheat from 690,000 hectares of land in 2024. Similar plans have been announced for the past year.
