The Chairman of the Central Bank (CB) of Turkmenistan, Toily Myalikov, has approved a new procedure, requirements and measures to ensure cyber protection and information security in the national banking system and for persons performing money transfers.
The document was signed in order to meet the requirements of paragraph 1 of Part Two of Article 14 of the Law of Turkmenistan "On Cyber Security". The management of the Central Bank and the Agency of Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan shall control the implementation of this order.
"These requirements shall be binding on all credit and money transfer organisations located in Turkmenistan".
Banks must be equipped with software to detect and prevent network intrusions and attacks. The Information Security Administrator is responsible for this.
Turkmenistan is ranked 164 out of 176 in the global cybersecurity ranking. This data is published in the National Cyber Security Index - NCSI.
Criteria such as the Global Cyber Security Index, the Information and Communication Technology Development Index and network readiness were taken into account in the ranking.
