Kazakhstan and India Relations
The relationship between India and Kazakhstan is deeply rooted in history, spanning over 2500 years. This enduring connection is characterized by a continual exchange of goods, ideas, and cultural influences. The positive historical backdrop sets the stage for the current diplomatic efforts aimed at fostering deeper cooperation.
India was one of the first countries to recognize Kazakhstan's independence in 1991. Diplomatic relations were established in February 1992, with both nations opening embassies shortly afterward. The ongoing cooperation extends to multilateral forums, including the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and various UN organizations.
India's consistent support for Kazakhstan's initiatives, such as CICA, and Kazakhstan's endorsement of India's aspirations for permanent and non-permanent memberships in the UN Security Council, further solidify the diplomatic ties between the two nations.
