In a move set to enhance connectivity between India and Kazakhstan, IndiGo, India's largest airline, has announced its plans to inaugurate a direct flight between Delhi and Almaty starting in September. The Ministry of Culture and Sports' press service confirmed this development on August 22.
The new route will offer travelers the convenience of a non-stop connection between the Indian capital, Delhi, and the picturesque Kazakh city of Almaty. The service is scheduled to operate three times a week, providing more options for passengers seeking to explore cultural and business ties between the two nations.
This announcement comes as IndiGo continues its impressive streak at the 2023 World Airline Awards. The airline has secured the coveted title of "Best Low-Cost Airline in India and South Asia" for the 13th consecutive year. This prestigious recognition was bestowed upon IndiGo at the renowned World Airline Awards ceremony, held during the Paris Air Show.
The addition of the Delhi-Almaty-Delhi direct flight reflects IndiGo's commitment to expanding its international network and catering to the growing demand for convenient travel options. This move not only strengthens India's global air connectivity but also fosters increased cooperation between the two countries.
Moldir Abdualiyeva, the official representative of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, highlighted the broader trend of foreign airlines expressing interest in establishing links with Kazakhstan.
"We are always negotiating new direct flights with foreign airlines. As a result, the number of flights to Qatar, Egypt, and China has lately increased. Foreign companies are expressing a lot of interest in Kazakhstan. For example, Oman's low-cost airline SalamAir launched Almaty-Muscat flights twice a week this summer," Abdualiyeva stated.
The initiation of the Delhi-Almaty-Delhi route is poised to not only facilitate travel but also contribute to the strengthening of diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties between India and Kazakhstan. As both nations look ahead to strengthening their international connections, IndiGo's new flight route marks a significant step forward in achieving these goals.
