Uzbekistan, represented by a delegation led by First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhromjon Aloyev, actively participated in the Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement held in Kampala, MFA reported. The event brought together delegations from more than 100 states, including foreign ministers and their deputies, to discuss crucial matters on the international agenda.
The meeting served as a platform to review and approve the draft agenda and documents slated for consideration at the upcoming 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement. The Uzbekistan delegation, through its leader, emphasized the imperative for close cooperation within the Movement, focusing on the development of international transport networks and infrastructures, enhancement of economic and financial systems, and the need to address environmental challenges.
In his address, First Deputy Minister Bakhromjon Aloyev underscored the importance of joint efforts to develop initiatives for peaceful conflict resolution, bolstering preparedness for natural disasters and emergencies, combatting climate change, and protecting the environment. The delegation actively engaged in discussions on various current aspects of the international agenda, contributing insights and perspectives.
Earlier Daryo reported that Uzbekistan and Uganda formalized their bilateral ties by signing a Joint Communiqué. This event signifies Uganda as the 145th country to establish diplomatic relations with Uzbekistan. The commitment to fostering close cooperation across political, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres was mutually expressed during the diplomatic discussions.
Both nations emphasized their readiness to work together in line with their foreign policy objectives, which prioritize regional and international peace and security, regional integration, and international cooperation. The establishment of diplomatic relations with Uganda reflects Uzbekistan's dedication to expanding its global diplomatic footprint and building meaningful partnerships across diverse sectors.
