KazTransOil, a subsidiary of KazMunayGas, reported an increase in the volume of oil transportation in 2023 to 44.19 mn tonnes, Kursiv reported. This is an increase of 3.5 mn tonnes or 8.7% compared to 2022.
The volume of oil transportation through the main oil pipelines of KazTransOil JSC was 44.2 mn tonnes, which is 3.5 mn tonnes more than in 2022.
Oil transportation to oil refineries in Kazakhstan through the main oil pipelines of KazTransOil amounted to 17.4 mn tonnes, a decrease of 479,000 tonnes from 2022. In particular, Atyrau Oil Refinery delivered 5.4 mn tonnes of oil, PetroKazakhstan Oil Products (Shymkent Refinery) - 5.7 mn tonnes, Pavlodar Petrochemical Plant - 5.4 mn tonnes, and the joint venture CASPI BITUM - 853,000 tonnes.
Pipeline performance
The Atyrau-Samara section of the Uzen-Atyrau-Samara trunk oil pipeline transported 10.3 mn tonnes, an increase of 879,000 tonnes from 2022. The TON-2 pipeline (Tuymazy-Omsk-Novosibirsk-2) located in Kazakhstan transported 11.2 mn tonnes, an increase of 207,000 tonnes from 2022.
However, the volume of transhipment to the Atasu-Alashankou trunk oil pipeline decreased by 52,000 tonnes to 11.2 mn tonnes. The volume of transhipment into the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) system was 3.2 mn tonnes, 2.1 mn tonnes more than in 2022. Oil loading into tankers at the port of Aktau using KazTransOil’s facilities amounted to 3.4 mn tonnes, an increase of 1.1 mn tonnes from 2022.
Cargo turnover
Oil cargo turnover through the main oil pipelines of KazTransOil amounted to 34.2 bn tonne-kilometres, a decrease of 54 mn tonne-kilometres from 2022. The oil pipeline system of the Kazakhstan-China Pipeline transported 18.8 mn tonnes of oil, a decrease of 429,000 tonnes from 2022. Oil cargo turnover was 16.9 bn tonne-kilometres, a decrease of 442 mn tonne-kilometres from 2022.
The volume of oil transported through the oil pipeline of the North-West Pipeline Company MunaiTas was 5.5 mn tonnes, a decrease of 79,000 tonnes from 2022. The volume of transhipment of oil, oil products, and gas through Batumi Oil Terminal was 1.6 mn tonnes, a decrease of 353,000 tonnes from 2022.
