Four people survive Russian private plane crash in Afghanistan

The plane that crashed in Afghanistan was piloted by two pilots, 41-year-old Dmitry Belyakov and 42-year-old Arkady Grachev. The other two crew members, Igor Syvorotkin and Pavel Popov, were previously healthcare workers, as per media reports.

As per the media reports, both pilots held private pilot certificates issued by the North-Western Territorial Administration of the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency. However, they had only recently completed training in 2023 to pilot the Falcon-10, the aircraft involved in the crash.

    The Passengers

Among the passengers on the private plane were Anna and Anatoly, entrepreneurs from Volgodonsk. They had arrived in Thailand on December 15 on a regular flight for a vacation, accompanied by their son Vitaly. A few days into their vacation, Anna fell ill and was admitted to a hospital in Pattaya on December 17. She was diagnosed with an infection and placed on a ventilator.

    The Incident

As previously reported, a Russian Falcon plane, performing a charter flight from Goa, India to Russia via Tashkent, crashed in Afghanistan. The plane disappeared from radar while in Afghan airspace. The wreckage was later found in Afghanistan. As per the preliminary data, four people survived the crash.

    The Return Journey

Following the recommendation of Thai doctors, Anatoly Evsyukov decided to take his wife back to Russia. The family booked a private flight, possibly through an insurance company. Once the clinic gave permission for Anna to be transported, the jet carrying Anatoly and his wife took off from Pattaya on January 20. After refueling in India, the next stop was to be Tashkent for further refueling, and then onto Moscow. However, over Afghanistan, the pilots reported problems with the engine and fuel. The plane subsequently crashed in the mountains near Afghan Badakhshan.

Their son Vitaly, who had flown back from Pattaya on a regular flight, had already arrived in Russia, where he learned about the tragic death of his parents.
