In the period of 9M 2023, the service sector in Kazakhstan, particularly in programming, consulting, and associated domains, demonstrated robust growth, amounting to KZT 734.5bn ($1.6bn), marking a substantial 43.5% increase compared to the corresponding period in 2022 Finprom.kz reports.
This growth trend has persisted for seven consecutive years, with an average annual upswing of 35.7%. Notably, the volume of services in 2022, totaling KZT 772.2bn ($1.7bn), only slightly exceeded the figures recorded in the first nine months of 2023 by 5.1%.
Software development emerged as a key contributor, constituting over half of the provided services at KZT 407.3bn ($893.6mn), reflecting a notable 67.1% surge compared to 9M 2022. Other substantial contributions were observed in consulting and practical IT solutions (KZT 53.2bn or $117.7mn), software support (KZT 49.8bn or $110.2mn), and activities managing information and communication infrastructure for state electronic information resources and systems (KZT 47.6bn or $105.3mn).
In the third quarter of 2023, the average monthly nominal wage in this sector reached KZT 816,400 ($1,807), showcasing a considerable 2.3 times increase compared to the national average. This wage differential is notably higher than the 86.4% advantage enjoyed by IT workers in the same period a year earlier.
Furthermore, the purchasing power of wages for professionals in computer programming, consulting, and related services experienced a remarkable 29.4% year-on-year increase, surpassing the average 3.5% increment for Kazakhstan as a whole.
