In 2023, Uzbekistan saw a significant decrease in emergencies. According to Furkat Abdukodirov, the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the number of emergencies fell by about a third, marking a 34% decrease.
Expansion of fire and rescue stations
The Ministry of Emergency Situations undertook a substantial expansion of its infrastructure over the past year. Twelve new fire and rescue stations were constructed, and four existing facilities underwent repairs. This growth in infrastructure is a testament to the Ministry’s commitment to improving emergency response capabilities across the country.
Investment in special vehicles
In addition to infrastructure development, the Ministry made significant investments in equipment. Approximately 50 new firefighting and special vehicles were purchased. These new additions will undoubtedly enhance the Ministry’s operational capacity and efficiency in responding to emergencies.
Proactive measures for flood prevention
The Ministry also prioritized proactive measures to prevent flood-related emergencies. Over 200 flood prevention exercises were conducted throughout the year. Furthermore, about 105 km of canals were cleared as part of these preventive efforts.
