On January 2, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, chaired a meeting focused on the construction and development of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan. the President's Press Service reports.
Enhancing combat readiness and capability
The meeting discussed various issues, including the improvement of the troops’ combat readiness and capability. This involves equipping them with modern weapons and military equipment, and modernizing existing weapons.
Military-patriotic education and social security
The meeting also addressed the military-patriotic education of the country’s youth and the social security of servicemen, their families, and veterans of the Armed Forces.
The Minister of Defense presented a report on the work done to improve the effectiveness of combat and moral and psychological training of troops, the activities of management bodies, associations, formations, units, and higher military educational institutions.
Reforming National Army
Since 2016, special attention has been paid to reforming the national army. This includes improving the organizational structure and deployment system of the Armed Forces, equipping the troops with modern weapons and equipment, and increasing their combat readiness, combat capability, and professionalism.
Technical and logistics support
The system of technical and logistics support for units has been fundamentally revised. A system of outsourcing and military clusters has been introduced. Defense industry enterprises are actively developing, and the localization of production and modernization of certain types of weapons and equipment has begun.
Military-patriotic education of young people
Last year, special attention was paid to the military-patriotic education of young people. More than 24,000 events were held in mahallas, and more than 5,000 young people were involved in training sessions of “Schools of Courage”.
Clubs and sections in military camps
The practice of organizing clubs and sections in military camps in various disciplines, sports, and the arts for children and adolescents of families included in the “iron notebook” has been established. They have been assigned to brigade commanders and commanders of military districts.
Operational and combat training events
More than 580 operational and combat training events have been held, in which more than 35,000 servicemen of the Armed Forces participated.
The social protection of servicemen and members of their families has been strengthened. A new system of training military personnel based on advanced technologies has been introduced in the activities of military universities.
Digitalization of military sphere
Special attention has been paid to the digitalization of the military sphere. Modern automated troop management systems are being gradually introduced, and the communication system is being improved.
The meeting stressed the importance of continuing the work on equipping the national army with modern weapons and military-technical equipment, as well as improving the defense-industrial complex.
Celebrating 32nd anniversary of Armed Forces
The issues of organizing and holding high-level events to celebrate the 32nd anniversary of the formation of the Armed Forces and the Day of the Defender of the Motherland on January 14 were also considered.
Following the results of the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev gave a number of instructions to further improve the activities of the Armed Forces and enhance the country’s defense capability.
