On December 28, the Minister of MIIT, Laziz Kudratov, held a meeting with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Italy to Uzbekistan, Agostino Pinna, to discuss current and prospective collaboration between the two nations, governmental portal reported.
The meeting delved into various aspects of ongoing cooperation, emphasizing the shared commitment to strengthening trade, economic, and investment ties. Notably, the discussions highlighted the increasing interest of Italian businesses in Uzbekistan, marked by a significant rise in enterprises with Italian capital involvement in recent years. The diversification of collaboration into new sectors such as energy, metallurgy, chemical industry, mechanical engineering, and the textile industry was underscored.
A key focus of the dialogue was the exploration of mechanisms to attract Italian companies for joint projects in Uzbekistan. The parties considered effective strategies and frameworks to facilitate the active participation of Italian businesses in various sectors of Uzbekistan's economy.
On November 10, bilateral discussions took place between Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Italy, Sergio Mattarella, at the "Koksaroy" residence, signifying a pivotal moment in their diplomatic relations.
Earlier Daryo reported that a symposium promoting a high-level exchange between Uzbekistan and Italy, coordinated by the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan (ISRS) and the Mediterranean Institute for Asia and Africa, has kicked off in Tashkent. The conference, titled "Uzbekistan – Italy: New Perspectives for Collaboration," represents a notable advancement in strengthening diplomatic relations, as reported by the National Information Agency of Uzbekistan.
