This year, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has signed a series of projects worth more than $70 million to support the capacity of Turkmenistan's public health system.
UNDP Resident Representative Narine Sahakyan wrote about this in an article in the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper.
The Government of Turkmenistan is funding the supply of medicines and UNDP is helping to procure only quality medicines from manufacturers to prevent and control both communicable and non-communicable diseases throughout the country.
"Together, we are working to ensure that we build public health capacity for clinical and laboratory diagnosis of diseases, support national targets for tuberculosis control, and ... respond to global pandemics."
