On December 21, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan welcomed Jeenbek Kulubayev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, who was on an official visit to Uzbekistan, presidential press service reported.
The discussions during the meeting centered around the further strengthening of the amicable relations, good neighborliness, and the extensive strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. The leaders explored ways to enrich these relations with concrete content and enhance collaboration across various sectors.
At the onset of the meeting, Minister Jeenbek Kulubayev conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadir Japarov, to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
President Mirziyoyev expressed great satisfaction with the elevated level of bilateral cooperation in recent years, noting increased activity in dialogues and exchanges at various levels, including parliaments, governments, regions, and among public and business circles. The effective functioning of the intergovernmental commission and the launch of the Development Fund of Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan were highlighted as positive developments.
Trade volumes and cargo transportation between the two nations are on the rise, with collaborative projects spanning machine-building, electrical engineering, textiles, agriculture, and other sectors being successfully implemented. Regular joint cultural and humanitarian events further contribute to the robust relations.
The leaders underscored the importance of sustaining an active political dialogue and expediting priority programs and projects. Among these projects, the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway was specifically emphasized as a key initiative that requires acceleration.
