The renowned Kazakh retail chain, Mechta, specializing in electronics and household appliances, is set to make its debut in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. This marks a significant milestone in the company’s expansion strategy.
Mechta, established in 1992, has grown to become one of the leading retail chains in Kazakhstan, boasting 98 stores across 44 cities. The company is recognized for its wide range of products, with over 20,000 items on offer.
In preparation for the launch of its first store in Tashkent, Mechta has posted several job vacancies on hh.uz, indicating an active recruitment drive for cashiers and salespeople. These vacancies have been posted by the individual entrepreneur MECHTA MARKET CO.
The expansion of Mechta into Uzbekistan comes at a time when the country’s household appliances market is experiencing robust growth. In 2023, the revenue in the Household Appliances market in Uzbekistan amounts to $0.72bn. It is projected to grow annually by 7% (CAGR 2023-2028). The Major Appliances market alone generated a revenue of $477.7 mn in 2023.
Mechta’s entry into the Uzbek market is likely to contribute to this growth, offering consumers a wider choice of electronics and household appliances. This move also aligns with the growing demand for energy-efficient household appliances in Uzbekistan.
