The Uzbek leader, through his spokesperson Sherzod Asadov, expressed profound sorrow over the significant loss of life and injuries sustained by the Chinese people. According to the latest reports, the earthquake claimed the lives of 100 people in Gansu province and another 11 in Qinghai, with nearly 200 individuals injured.
President Mirziyoyev conveyed his deepest sympathies and support to the bereaved families and friends of the victims. He also wished a swift recovery to those injured in the calamity.
This tragic event is a stark reminder of the seismic activity that has historically affected this region of China. Just last year, a 6.8 magnitude earthquake in China’s southwestern province of Sichuan resulted in the death of at least 74 people.
