Qatar’s Power International Holding is considering a substantial investment in Uzbekistan’s infrastructure, with a particular focus on the tourism and transportation sectors. The Deputy Board Chairman of the company, Maurice Gattas, recently met with Umid Shodiyev, the Chairman of the Tourism Committee, to discuss potential projects.
One of the key proposals under consideration is the construction of a high-speed railway line along the Tashkent-Samarkand route. This project aims to enhance connectivity and facilitate travel between these two important cities. In addition to the railway project, the company is also contemplating the establishment of a toll road in the same region.
Power International Holding is exploring opportunities to contribute to the growth of Uzbekistan’s tourism sector. The company is considering financing the construction of hotels in the country’s historical cities, which are major tourist attractions. Another ambitious proposal on the table is the development of an international all-season theme park in the Tashkent region.
The company has a track record of involvement in infrastructure projects in Uzbekistan. The company is currently constructing a modern livestock cluster in the Jizzakh region. Moreover, Uzbekistan has been actively working on improving its railway operations, as evidenced by the Railway Efficiency Improvement Project.
This potential investment by Power International Holding could significantly boost Uzbekistan’s tourism and transportation sectors, contributing to the country’s economic growth and development.
