At the forty-sixth plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the question of electing the Ombudsman for Children's Rights was discussed. This information was provided by the press service of the upper chamber of the parliament.
The Senate has decided to elect Surayya Rahmanova as the Ombudsman for Children's Rights of the Oliy Majlis.
Surayya Rahmanova graduated Tashkent State Law University in 2000 and her master's degree in 2002. She holds the title of Associate Professor since 2015 and earned her Doctor of Juridical Science in 2018, subsequently becoming a professor.
Surayya Rahmanova previously held the position of Head of the Public Relations and Legal Information Department of the General Prosecutor's Office from 2018 to July 2019. Following that, she was appointed to a new role as the Head of the Organization and Coordination Department for the activities of information services of the state administration bodies of the Agency for Information and Mass Communications.
In mid-September 2023, the Ombudsman for Children's Rights of the Oliy Majlis, Aliya Yunusova, announced her resignation. She expressed gratitude to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his special attention to children's rights and interests, the comprehensive upbringing of the younger generation, and the protection of motherhood and childhood.
