The Israeli Foreign Minister, Eli Cohen, has ordered the return of all Israeli diplomats from Turkey due to the Turkish government's support for the Palestinian residents during the Israel-Hamas conflict.
"In light of Turkey's statements, I have instructed the return of our diplomatic representatives from there to reassess the relationship between Turkey and Israel," Cohen wrote on his social media account X (formerly Twitter).
Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan addressed an almost two-million-strong rally in support of the Palestinians in Istanbul, where he accused Israel of "war crimes" in the Gaza Strip. He stated that Western countries were "mobilizing politicians and the media to legitimize the killing of innocent Gaza residents."
United Nations condemned Israel's decision to blockade Gaza, stating that such measures constitute "collective punishment," which will lead to civilian casualties. According to UN estimates, the Gaza Strip faces a humanitarian catastrophe if safe corridors for aid delivery are not opened soon.
On the morning of October 7, the military group of Hamas' Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades announced the beginning of an operation against Israel called "Aqsa Flood." In response, the Israel Defense Forces declared an attack on the Gaza Strip using dozens of fighter jets. As of now, more than 7,000 Palestinians have been killed as a result of Israeli strikes in Gaza.
