    President Mirziyoyev in Samarkand for UNWTO Session

    President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan arrived in the historic city of Samarkand on October 16, where he will be participating in the 25th session of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). The visit to this ancient city, known for its rich history and cultural significance, sets the stage for significant discussions and initiatives related to global tourism.

    The President's first stop upon his arrival was at the revered mausoleum of Imam Bukhari, a prominent Islamic scholar. In a solemn and spiritual gesture, a recitation of the Quran and prayers were offered at the sacred site. The mausoleum, an important religious and historical landmark, is still undergoing construction and renovation. During his visit, President Mirziyoyev inspected the ongoing work and decision-making processes to ensure the preservation of this significant heritage.

    After paying his respects at the mausoleum, President Mirziyoyev proceeded to engage in key discussions regarding the upcoming UNWTO session. During his visit, the President is expected to participate in the opening ceremony of the UNWTO session, where he will have the opportunity to address global tourism leaders and stakeholders. The President will also hold meetings with the Secretary-General of the UNWTO, Zurab Pololikashvili, and get acquainted with a tourism exhibition that highlights Uzbekistan's growing importance as a tourist destination.

    President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's visit to Samarkand carries immense significance as the city is not only a historical treasure but also a vital hub for tourism development and international collaboration. Samarkand has long been celebrated for its architectural wonders, ancient Silk Road heritage, and vibrant culture. The President's presence in the city for the UNWTO anniversary session underscores the commitment of Uzbekistan to the promotion and advancement of global tourism.

    As part of the visit, President Mirziyoyev also had the opportunity to greet and welcome the permanent members of the World Tourism Organization to Samarkand. A photo session took place, allowing for a warm and friendly interaction with each delegate. This informal interaction fosters an atmosphere of cooperation and mutual understanding, setting the tone for fruitful discussions during the upcoming UNWTO session.

    The opening ceremony of the UNWTO session has now commenced.
