The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Uzbekistan have agreed to broaden their air travel connections, offering not only flights to the capital city, Tashkent but also to the historically rich cities of Samarkand, Bukhara, Urganch, and Namangan.
This expansion comes as a result of discussions held between the Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Abdulaziz Aqqulov, and Saif Muhammad Al Suwaidi, Director of the General Office of the UAE Civil Aviation.
During the high-level dialogue, the focus was on increasing the number of flights between the two nations, streamlining the process of addressing flight requests, and paving the way for mutually beneficial routes to regional airports in the future. These talks aim to strengthen the existing air connectivity between the UAE and Uzbekistan, making travel more accessible for both nations.
Saif Muhammad Al Suwaidi, in announcing the developments, shared that air travel links between the two countries are set to increase significantly in 2023, with an anticipated total of 46 flights based on seasonal demand. Moreover, he expressed the UAE's keen interest in further enhancing this number, reflecting the growing desire for increased bilateral connectivity.
Uzbekistani diplomats highlighted recent reforms, particularly in the field of tourism, showcasing their commitment to creating a more welcoming environment for travelers. In addition to Tashkent, Uzbekistan's capital, the establishment of new flight routes and the expansion of existing services to cities like Samarkand, Bukhara, Urganch, and Namangan are set to transform the country into a hub for tourists not just from the UAE but also from the broader Middle East region.
Both parties have expressed their commitment to further discussions and cooperation with relevant companies and organizations, with the support of the embassy, to ensure the smooth implementation of this initiative.
