President's visit: 130 MW boost and 60% less electrical accidents in Tashkent

President's visit: 130 MW boost and 60% less electrical accidents in Tashkent

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev embarked on a tour of Tashkent on October 14 to acquaint himself with the city's latest infrastructure facilities and to assess preparations for the forthcoming autumn-winter season.

Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, has been experiencing significant growth in both population and territorial expansion in recent years. To ensure that the city's ever-expanding needs are met, the government is investing in the enhancement of its engineering networks.

One of the standout projects in this endeavor is the newly constructed substation in the Shaikhontohur district, located in close proximity to the renowned "Pakhtakor'' stadium. The project involved the installation of more than 19 kilometers of cables originating from the "Traktorsoz" substation and the integration of two new transformers. This substation is slated to be operational next month, and it is expected to generate an additional 130 megawatts of guaranteed electricity in the heart of Tashkent.

This development is not just about meeting the city's growing energy demands. The new substation will play a pivotal role in reducing the load on other substations across the city, effectively decreasing the probability of electrical accidents by a significant 60%. The increased electricity generation capacity will not only ensure that the city's residents have access to reliable power but also bolster Tashkent's overall infrastructure resilience.

During his visit to the Shaikhontohur district, President Mirziyoyev was briefed on the broader scope of the construction and modernization efforts underway in Tashkent's electricity supply system. The government is investing heavily in this critical sector, with the construction of five additional substations and the renovation of four existing ones. The combined capacity of these projects will add a substantial 850 megawatts of additional power to the city's grid.

These ongoing infrastructure initiatives underscore the Uzbek government's commitment to fostering sustainable growth and development across the nation. By investing in the modernization of essential utilities, such as the electricity supply system, Uzbekistan aims to ensure its cities remain dynamic, resilient, and capable of meeting the evolving needs of its citizens.
