Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Minister of Economy and Finance, Jamshid Kuchkarov, participated in the 99th meeting of the Economic Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) on September 22, 2023.
This significant gathering, held in a videoconference format, brought together prominent representatives from various CIS member states, including deputy chairmen of the governments of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia, Tajikistan's Minister of Economic Development and Trade, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, ambassadors of Belarus and Turkmenistan to Russia, and CIS Secretary General Sergey Lebedev.
The meeting served as a platform for a comprehensive discussion of a wide range of economic cooperation issues among CIS member states. A significant focus was placed on reviewing the activities of CIS sectoral cooperation bodies in the economic sphere from 2018 to 2023.
One of the central themes of the discussion was the robust growth in mutual trade turnover between CIS countries, driven by their commitment to enhancing cooperation within the Commonwealth. However, participants underscored the importance of continued efforts to eliminate existing barriers and further strengthen economic ties.
Key decisions were reached during the conference, covering critical areas such as healthcare, veterinary medicine, innovation, industry, geodesy and cartography, and financial support. Some of these decisions will be presented for consideration at the next meeting of the Council of Heads of Government.
The 100th meeting of the CIS Economic Council is scheduled to convene on December 8, 2023, in Moscow, marking another milestone in the ongoing economic collaboration among CIS member states.
