The Catalonia Supreme Court has ruled in favor of transferring a portion of the Nazarbayev family's property to the state. Specifically, this pertains to the Can Juncadella property, which is associated with a company owned by Timur and Dinara Kuliboyev, who are the son-in-law and middle daughter of Nursultan Nazarbayev.
The process for transferring ownership is currently under development through legal proceedings.
The property, located in Lloret de Mar, Spain, was operational until 2007 and held significance for both locals and tourists. It was subsequently acquired by Flinder Data SL, a company linked to Timur Kilubayev and Dinara Kulibayeva, with company executives including Asylbek Karibayev, the president of Petrokazakhstan Oil Products, and Danial Akhmetov, the former governor of the East Kazakhstan region.
Since 2009, local residents have been advocating for the property's return to public use. While in a 2015 trial, the mayor of Lloret de Mar, Xavier Crespo, faced accusations of legitimizing the construction of Nazarbayev's property, the ownership of the property remains with Flinder Data SL.
An expert assessment reveals that Can Juncadella spans 20 hectares, featuring a villa with a total area of 3,200m². The main residence comprises 13 bedrooms, at least 19 bathrooms, a swimming pool, three saunas, and an extensive garage. The property also includes a forest, football and basketball courts, as well as auxiliary structures for staff.
It's worth noting that apart from this particular real estate, Flinder Data SL possesses numerous other properties in Spain, totaling a value of €58mn ($61mn) as per the 2021 audit report.
