Afghanistan has witnessed the creation of a new herbal drug designed to prevent heart failure and stroke, marking a significant milestone in the country's medical landscape, Daryo corresponent in Afghanistan reported.
A female doctor in Kabul, after two decades of dedicated research, successfully formulated this herbal medicine aimed at treating cardiovascular diseases and stroke, marking a remarkable advancement in Afghanistan's healthcare sector. Notably, more than 200 patients have already benefited from this innovative medication.
The doctor, in a selfless gesture, has appealed to the Taliban-led government to collaborate in increasing the production and distribution of this life-saving medicine.
One testament to the efficacy of this herbal remedy comes from Abdul Rahman, aged over 50, who battled ischemic heart disease for a decade. He shared his remarkable recovery story, attributing his cure to the doctor's herbal medicine. Abdul Rahman, who had traveled from Germany to Afghanistan on a business trip, experienced a significant improvement in his condition within a span of 10 to 12 days. His chest pain alleviated, and he felt markedly better. He expressed his gratitude for the doctor's treatment and emphasized the importance of supporting this medical breakthrough.
"My heart was hurting. I had pain on my left side. Within 10-12 days it decreased. The pain was gone and I felt so much better. It is necessary to support the doctor, as a patient treated by him, I am grateful," he said.
In parallel, other medical professionals are urging Afghanistan's interim government to endorse and bolster the accomplishments of the country's doctors, recognizing the significance of these advancements for the nation's healthcare system.
These medical strides are especially noteworthy considering that, according to data from the Ministry of Health, a staggering 93% of medicines consumed in Afghanistan are imported from neighboring countries such as Pakistan, Iran, India, Turkey, and Bangladesh. The development of a locally produced and effective herbal medicine represents a promising step towards greater self-sufficiency and healthcare autonomy for Afghanistan.
