Kazakhstan's sunflower oil industry aims to fully cater to the sunflower oil requirements of the entire Central Asian region, Sugdnews reports.
In 2022, Kazakhstan outpaced Russia in providing vegetable oil to Tajikistan, reflecting a significant increase in its vegetable oil production over the past two seasons, which in turn impacted its export capacity.
"Such a breakthrough in the industry was due to the measures aimed at the development of the processing industry. Kazakhstan will be able to fully satisfy Central Asia's need for sunflower oil in the next 5 years," said Yadykar Ibragimov, the Chairman of the National Oilseed Processing Association.
He emphasized that the association is committed to making substantial efforts to achieve these goals in the medium term. However, the sector's development is contingent on the policies set forth by relevant ministries. Therefore, it is eagerly anticipated that clear decisions from the Ministries of Agriculture and Trade will encourage further cultivation of oilseeds, ultimately supporting industry expansion.
Ibragimov pointed out that Kazakhstan possesses all the necessary resources to not only meet the demands of the Central Asian market for sunflower oil but also enhance its standing in international markets. This is attributed to the favorable geographical location that bolsters the export of vegetable oil, making it a key sector for Kazakhstan's economic growth.
