Kazakhstan's national team is gearing up to participate in the prestigious 19th Asian Games, scheduled to take place from September 23 to October 8 in Hangzhou, China. The Kazakh Ministry of Tourism and Sports has officially confirmed the country's participation in this grand sporting event, marking the eighth appearance of Kazakhstan on the Asian Games stage since its debut in 1994. These Games are held once every four years and have become a major highlight for athletes from across the continent.
Kazakhstan's national team, comprised of 524 athletes, will vie for glory in 30 different sports, showcasing their prowess and determination in competitions ranging from boxing, judo, taekwondo, and wrestling to athletics, archery, modern pentathlon, breaking, badminton, triathlon, tennis, and water sports. Moreover, Kazakh athletes will also partake in three non-Olympic sports disciplines – wushu, martial arts, and intellectual board games, reflecting the nation's diverse sporting interests.
In preparation for this prestigious event, Kazakh Minister of Tourism and Sports, Yermek Marzhikpayev, personally met with the national team at the Olympic training base situated in the picturesque Almaty Region. During this meeting, he conveyed his best wishes to the athletes and emphasized the importance of their participation. Minister Marzhikpayev also highlighted that the 19th Asian Games would serve as a crucial qualifying platform for the upcoming Paris Olympics, with eight sports – boxing, archery, modern pentathlon, swimming, tennis, field hockey, breaking, and athletics – offering coveted spots to the winners.
To motivate and acknowledge the achievements of their athletes, the Kazakh Ministry of Tourism and Sports has announced a generous rewards scheme for medalists. Champions of the Asian Games will receive a cash reward of $10,000, while their coaches will be honored with $5,000. Silver medalists will be awarded $5,000, and their coaches will receive $3,000. Bronze medal winners will not be left unrewarded, as they will receive $3,000, with their coaches receiving $2,000, encouraging excellence in coaching and athlete development.
The 19th Asian Games are set to witness the participation of over 15,000 athletes hailing from 45 countries across the continent. Competing in 40 different sports disciplines, these athletes will be vying for a total of 481 sets of medals, showcasing the true spirit of sporting excellence and unity among Asian nations.
