In a distressing development, a student of Faryab University in Afghanistan fell victim to an assault by the Taliban, who subjected him to physical violence, Daryo correspondent in Afghanistan reported. The shocking incident, captured on video, depicts two armed Taliban soldiers beating the university student with a firearm.
The motive behind this attack, as per information obtained from a source, was the student's alleged defiance of a directive issued by the university director. It is reported that the student refused to heed the director's speech, which seemingly triggered the violent response from the Taliban soldiers.
This incident comes on the heels of a previously Daryo reported episode in which the Taliban targeted students at Faryab University. In that earlier occurrence, the Taliban forcibly shaved the heads of 29 students and detained them for a period of 24 hours.
